I am an independent consultant and evaluator in both the online learning and bricks & mortar worlds. I have been an educator for over 25 years, and for most of that time, I have focused on exploring and developing ways to reach students that the traditional system has failed to serve. Considered by many to be a national leader in online learning and virtual schools, I am the co-author of iNACOL’s How to Start an Online Program website along with over two-dozen articles on various topics in education. I have also worked on urban school improvement through evaluation and principal coaching in cities like New York, Indianapolis, Chicago and Oakland, California. I am the founder and Executive Director of GLBTQ Online High School and the co-author of the school’s GLBTQ Studies course, providing an option for glbtq youth who may not be content or successful in their local schools.
I have worked with over 200 schools around the country, and I am grateful for all I have learned from all those schools and the thousands of educators I have encountered along the way. The purpose of this blog is to share information and perspectives from that experience.
